2011 Intro: Kaleb Johnson
Standing at six-foot-five and weighing in at around 290-pounds Ed White High School junior Kaleb Johnson is a mountain of an offensive lineman. After visiting Georgia Tech during the summer of a camp, Johnson made the trek back up to Atlanta from Jacksonville to catch the Georgia-Georgia Tech game in Bobby Dodd Stadium.
Johnson was impressed seeing the Tech stadium on game day and he enjoyed chatting with the Georgia Tech coaching staff prior to kickoff.
"I talked to coach Mike Sewak and coach Todd Spencer before the game which was nice," Johnson said. "I thought the atmosphere was great and the fans were going crazy."
When the Jackets came up just short of a victory, Johnson was a little bummed, but he is looking forward to visiting again shortly when Georgia Tech's holds their annual junior day.
"I thought it sucked that Georgia Tech lost the game," he said. "I am going back up to Georgia Tech for their junior day and I might go to Florida State's junior day as well."
The Jackets are making the hardest early push for Johnson though he already has an offer from another school in hand with several soon to follow.
"Tech is the only school I have had a chance to go to," he said. "So far I have an offer from Rutgers and I think Illinois, Florida State and Georgia Tech are close to offering. I think Georgia Tech is recruiting me the hardest out of any of the schools. I don't have any favorites right now."
After a strong junior season, Johnson's only regret is that his team did not make a better push in the playoffs.
"I wish our team would have made a better playoff push, but I think I played well and we will do better this year," he said.
