Washington delivers in the return game

Auburn has searched all season for a reliable punt and kick returner. Saturday in Athens, they finally found one.

Junior Demond Washington set Auburn single-game records with 202 kickoff return yards and 229 total return yards. Both rank fourth in SEC history.

His biggest play came in the 4th quarter when he followed up a Georgia touchdown with a 99-yard kickoff return for a touchdown that tied the game at 24.

"The kickoff return team came out and did an awesome job blocking. They gave me a wide open hole and I just hit it untouched," Washington said.

Washington's 19-yard punt return in the first quarter was AU's longest of the season and he also tallied four tackles in just his second game as Auburn's starting safety after moving from corner two weeks ago.
