Louisiana QB picks Colorado

As one of the top prospects in the state of Louisiana, New Orleans (La.) Edna Karr quarterback Munchie Legaux has had an active recruitment with numerous schools showing interest. Recently, increased attention from Colorado inspired Legaux to take an official visit to Boulder and he saw enough to spur a commitment and he brought a teammate along with him.

"Me and my wide receiver committed to Colorado," Legaux said on Monday.

Legaux and his wide receiver Keenan Canty have had a great connection on the high school level, finishing the regular season 9-1 as one of the top teams in Louisiana. What Legaux saw this weekend inspired him to bring that connection to the Big 12.

"I went to the game, I met some coaches and I sat and talked with the quarterback coach and the head coach and he told me some things that I like," said the athletic 6-foot-4 quarterback. "He told me I could come in and play as a freshman and that's what I like. And they said they were recruiting me as a quarterback not as an athlete."

Though Legaux didn't come board the plane this weekend with an expectation to commit, some pleasant surprises made him pull the trigger.

"It was kind of a surprise," he said. "I thought it was going to be much colder than it was but it wasn't. It was nice. It was a good atmosphere and I felt like it was a big time college game so that was good."

Legaux has received significant interest from the likes of Michigan, Oregon, Baylor and Tennessee but he felt a difference in the way that Colorado was approaching his role on the team.

"It was a place that needed me not wanted me," he said. "I want to be at a place that needs me and not a school that just wants to add me to a spot on the roster."

Legaux is not ruling out taking official visits to other programs, he is not focused on getting to the state championship.

"We're focusing more on the season now trying to get to the state championship," he said. "We finished 9-1 and we feel pretty confident."
