Turner playing QB, but likes the idea of WR in college
Arlington Sam Houston junior quarterback Jamal Turner was considered to be one of the leading returning passers in the Metroplex coming into the 2009 season. He's in some elite company given the quality of signal callers in the area such as Denton Ryan's Scotty Young and McKinney's Zach Lee who are both rated as four-star prospects by Rivals.com. Turner hit 59-percent of his passes last season for 2,611 yards and 21 touchdowns and added another nine touchdowns on the ground as a mere sophomore.
However, Turner is also 6-foot-1 and 170 pounds and has 4.51 speed in the 40-yard dash, which suggests that a transition to another position is possible. In fact, Turner said that he would rather play receiver than quarterback.
Turner has a scholarship offer from Nebraska and is gaining significant interest from Texas A&M, Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Maryland and TCU.
