Walton offensive lineman Brandon Kublanow has logged some serious miles in 2013.
The Peach State prospect has flown down to Miami to visit a Junior Day, visited Gainesville for a similar event at Florida, and taken a trip to Clemson to visit the Tigers.
This weekend, however, was a shorter trip four the Rivals250 lineman, as he made the hour and a half drive to Athens to visit Georgia for the entire weekend.
Kublanow has seen Athens many times, and this visit, like the others, impressed the Marietta native.
"I had a great time," he said. "I've seen Georgia a lot, so there wasn't a ton of stuff I hadn't seen yet, but I really had a good time there. It was cool to spend a few days there."
Spending time with the coaches is something most players recognize as a highlight of most recruiting trips, but for Kublanow, it was spending time with some current Georgia lineman that stood out for him.
"The one thing I really enjoyed was hanging out with the players," said Kublanow. "I spent time with (David) Andrews, Watts (Dantzler), Nathan (Theus), and those guys and had a great time. It was good to just be part of the group."
As the four-star lineman has taken trips to the Classic City, he has also gotten know a member of Georgia's coaching staff quite well, and it doesn't hurt that he is his prospective position coach at the next level.
"I know Coach (Will) Friend really well," said Kublanow. "I've gotten a chance to bond with him and get to know him. He is a great guy. I like how, when he coaches he is in coach mode, but off the field he is a guy you can talk to about stuff and he is like a father figure too."
Kublanow, who played center for the AAAAA state runner up Walton Raiders, says that Georgia, along with most other schools, are recruiting him to play the same position at the college level.
"They are all looking at me at center right now," said Kublanow. "Some say maybe guard too, and I really don't care. Whatever gets me on the field, really."
Bull, as he is called by his Walton teammates, is on spring break this week, and after taking a trip with his family to the beach during the week, he will be heading to North Carolina to see what the Tarheels have to offer.
After that visit, the nations 243rd ranked prospect by Rivals.com, has plans for possibly one more visit before he names his top group of schools.
"I'll probably narrow things down after my next visit to UNC," said Kublanow. "I might visit USC, I'm not sure yet, but I know that I want to narrow things down soon."
