June 27, 2013June 27, 2013 - The sojourn of Otto Porter takes another impressive, important step today, as the 6'8", 200 pound forward will learn where he will be start his National Basketball Association career. Tune into ESPN at 7p to watch the draft's proceedings.
Porter, who came to Georgetown two years ago never having played AAU basketball, the first time riding in an airplane being his trip to Georgetown, playing in Missouri high school ball's smallest classification, is widely considered a lock for top five selection today. Following are sites and their prognostications (they are only guesstimations at this time):
The vast majority of prognosticators believe Porter will be staying in his new home for the pros, with the Washington Wizards selecting him. It's a logical position, as the Wiz need help at small forward - someone that can impact the game without being ball dominant - and given Porter's success (All-BIG EAST, All-American) with G'Town in the Verizon Center (both teams share that gym), a natural fan base exists for him.
For a poll of where Porter will land, see our Premium Court message board. Also there is discussion of what he has meant to Georgetown Basketball. Later enjoy our real-time draft chat as well.
