April 17, 2009Coach Matt Painter will allow "the judicial system to run its course" before commenting on point guard Lewis Jackson, who's facing four charges in his native Illinois, an athletic department release said Friday afternoon.
Jackson, a Decatur, Ill., native was stopped for speeding in neighboring Piatt County in the early morning hours Wednesday.
The 19-year-old faces charges of illegal possession and consumption of alcohol, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana less than two-and-a-half grams. The first three charges are Class A misdemeanors; the last is a Class C misdemeanor.
Charges were filed Wednesday; an initial court appearance is scheduled for Monday morning.
Jackson started 30 games for Purdue as a freshman.
