March 14, 2013March 14, 2013 - The BIG EAST Championships is arguably college basketball's best postseason conference tournament, given its history, competitiveness and at times drama. Having it at Madison Square Garden only increases the allure.
For Georgetown, regular season league champs, their 2013 BEC journey starts today with a noon match up with Cincinnati. ESPN has the TV broadcast, Rich Chvotkin is holding down radio duties as usual on WTEM 980, and HoyaReport.com once again boasts real time, in-game chat - just the ticket for a working fan that wants to keep abreast and/or comment on the action.
The Hoyas come into today's battle 24-5, the number one BEC seed and ranked fifth nationally. Cincy, slotted ninth in this single elimination affair, owns a 22-10 record, and was defeated at home by the Hoyas on February 15th.
Can the Hoyas stop or at least limit the likes of Sean Kilpatrick, the Bearcats leading scorer? Will Cincy's mix of zone and man defenses, rugged style of play and relatively deep bench wear down Georgetown?
Conversely, how will the Bearcats attack Otto Porter Jr., this year's conference Player of the Year? Does a third consistent scorer emerge for the Hoyas - when someone does, they generally win.
Tackle all those questions here, at HoyaReport.com. The answers will begin to reveal themselves, at noon.
