EAST LANSING - Kirk Cousins wants to do two things on January 2: Play in the Rose Bowl and find that security guard. The now-infamous guard refused to let him into the Rose Bowl last March when Cousins visited the stadium while attending the Elite 11 camp in California. The guard told him the only way he'd get into the stadium was as a player in the game in January. Cousins took him at his word.
"It's been well documented how that security guard didn't let me in on spring break," Cousins said Tuesday night.
"I'd be hard pressed to find something more satisfying than being able to go see that security guard come late December or January 2 when the bus pulls in. If we win the (Big Ten Championship) game, I'll be looking for him."
In order to achieve his - and the program's - goal of making it to the Rose Bowl, they'll need to beat No.15 Wisconsin for the second time this season in the inaugural Big Ten Championship Game Saturday night in Indianapolis.
If Cousins is able to duplicate his performance in the October 22 win over the Badgers, the Spartans may be packing for Pasadena. In that 37-31 win, Cousins completed over 70 percent of his passes (22-of-31) for 290 yards and three touchdowns. In his career versus the Badgers, he has completed 63 percent of his passes for 760 yards, with eight touchdowns and three interceptions.
