November 27, 2009ULM (3-3) looked to build on their modest two game winning streak as they headed west to Shreveport, La. to face the Gents of Centenary College (3-1). Centenary had a similar streak in tact, but were able to extend it to three with a 94 - 84 victory in the Gold Dome.
The first half saw the Warhawks score just two points in the opening four minutes of the game, while the Gents poured on the offense building an eventual 12 point lead on the hot shooting of senior Jerrald Bonhan who scored 10 of his 17 points for a new season high.
ULM would cut the Centenary lead to just three 32-29 with an 8-0 run led by the cutting lay-ups and aggressive play of junior Warren Fuselier who had nine first half points, before continuing his hot hand and setting a new career high with 13 points. The Warhawks didn't connect on a three pointer for the entire first half, failing on all seven attempts, and hit only two on the night with the first coming at the 5:36 mark of the second half.
The Gents continued to light up the scoreboard at the Warhawks turned the ball over 21 times, resulting in 22 points. On the boards, ULM out rebounded Centenary by a wide margin, 49 - 29. Leading the Gents in scoring was David Perez with a new season high of 27 points.
Tony Hooper marked another career milestone, as he moved into eighth place in career assists, ending the night with four. Leading the Warhawks in scoring was Malcolm Thomas with a season high 19 points.
ULM will return home to face rival Louisiana Tech on Wednesday night in a 7pm tip off from Fant-Ewing Coliseum.
