Practice Insider: Lots of leadership in backfield
Whenever Aaron Corp or Matt Barkley is in a tough spot this year, all he'll need to do it look around. In front of him, guys like Jeff Byers have been through it all.
To his left and his right will be receivers dripping in experience, and behind him will be running backs with the bumps and bruises acquired over their long careers.
It's really a good situation.
"That's been comforting to a certain extent all along, knowing that we have such a good group around whoever the quarterback is," USC head coach Pete Carroll said, "The quarterback couldn't ask for a better deal than that. To have running backs, tight ends receivers and an experienced O-line is all they could hope for. Hopefully we can move the ball around and get it to everybody and use all the speed and talent that we have."
Experience and leadership might be concentrated more at running back than anywhere else on the field. Stafon Johnson, C.J. Gable and Allen Bradford have all given years of their lives to the USC football team, and other guys have noticed.
