Two-a-days no problem for Aggies
The NCAA acclimation period is officially over for Texas A&M as August camp got into full swing Saturday with the first two-a-day of August with the Aggies practicing outdoors in full pads Saturday morning and in shoulder pads and shorts inside the McFerrin Athletic Center in the late afternoon.
For most teams it would be understandable to have a tough day on the first two-a-day of August, but A&M head coach Mike Sherman came away rather impressed with his team on Saturday.
"I really think today, and we're really into two-a-days now and done with the acclimation period, I was really proud of them and I thought they did a good job in both practices starting with this morning and this afternoon they came out and practiced hard again," Sherman said. "Did we make mistakes? Yes. Did we make improvement? Yes. I either give it a check or a minus and we get two checks today for both practices. The guys really responded well. We have a long way to go, but as long as we keep taking steps every day we'll get there."
Part of the reason the Aggies responded so well could be the summer conditioning program that has gotten nothing but rave reviews from players so far this August.
