One of the major strengths of the South Carolina defense over the past several years has been the play of the secondary. Players like Ko Simpson, Jonathan Joseph, Dunta Robinson, Willie Offord, Sheldon Brown, and Andre Goodman have all passed through the Gamecock program on their way to the NFL. Last season the Gamecock secondary took a step back, being forced to play a number of young players and to overcome the early departures of Simpson and Joseph. This spring, the secondary appears to be back on track to once again be a major strength of the defense. In today's column we will take a post-spring practice look at the players assistant head coach Ron Cooper will go into battle with in 2007.
