Position switch suits Laws just fine
At first, Trevor Laws didn't like the idea.
When the fifth-year senior caught wind of Notre Dame's defensive transformation under new coordinator Corwin Brown, Laws had visions of eating himself into a new jersey size. Laws had been watching the New England Patriots' playoff run, keeping an eye on nose guard Vince Wilfork. Emulating the 325-pound run stuffer didn't appeal to the former heavy weight wrestler that wanted to stay light on his feet.
"I saw Vince Wilfork in the middle all big and I was like, 'Damn,'" Laws said. "I called Coach Jappy (Oliver) and asked if I had to go eat some hamburgers. I'm only like 290 right now."
