Tech Welcomes Nebraska
Texas Tech, 4-4 in Big 12 conference play and losers of three straight, hosts the 2-5 Nebraska Cornhuskers tonight in a 7pm CST tipoff. A stumbling Raider club needs a win badly, while the Cornhuskers are looking for their first two-game winning streak in conference play and their first true road win of the season.
The Nebraska CornhuskersAll Nebraska basketball conversastions start with 6-foot-11 junior center Aleks Maric. He leads the team in points at 18.3, rebounds at 7.6, blocks at 1.3, field goal makes with 110, field goal attempts with 173, field goal percentage at .636, free throw makes, and free throw attempts. From the stripe he is 70-for-90, 71.4%.
He also leads the team in turnovers at 2.9 a game and is the only Cornhusker averaging more than .4 blocks a night. The offense goes through Maric every trip down the court for their best chance of scoring.
Benefitting from Maric's excellent play are guards Ryan Anderson and Jamel White. Anderson is a 6-4 freshman who averages 11.1 points per game and 4.5 rebounds, both second on the team.
Anderson is the number two Husker in terms of shot attempts and makes, going 61-for-121 on the year - a .504 clip. From the arc, he shoots .469 on 23-of-49 attempts. On a team of pretty good free throw shooters, he hits 81.5% on 22-for-27 from the stripe.
