Seniors want to put AU back on top
Auburn was on top of the college football world when Walter McFadden, Tommy Trott, Andrew McCain and AU's four other fifth-year seniors signed in 2005.
The Tigers were coming off a perfect 13-0 season, SEC Championship and Sugar Bowl Championship.
But those accomplishments seem like a distant memory after the steady decline of the past four seasons culminating in last year's 5-7 record.
With the 2009 season set to begin in just a few days, those seniors are hoping to bring Auburn back among the best in the SEC. At the very least, they want to stop the decline and put the football program back on course.
"That's the No. 1 goal," McCain said. "There are so many people who have come before us. The 2004 guys, most of them are playing on Sundays. This room has pictures and trophies everywhere. That's what Auburn people are used to and that's what they deserve.
"We owe it to the University and we owe it to the guys who wore this uniform before us to play at that high level."
