Hawthorne coaching-up the young WR's
Receivers coach Trooper Taylor raved all spring about Tim Hawthorne's leadership.
When Hawthorne broke his foot during voluntary summer workouts, it seemed like a devastating blow to an already young receivers group.
Instead of sulking about yet another setback, Hawthorne has looked for different ways to help the team. In particular, the junior sought ways to help ease the transition for true freshmen receivers DeAngelo Benton, Emory Blake, Travante Stallworth and Anthony Gulley.
During most practices, Hawthorne has worked with Taylor in receivers drills. Hawthorne can't participate in practice, but tries to provide the younger players with little tips.
Especially with the way offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn demands attention to even the most minute details, Hawthorne realizes the importance of the younger players picking up the intricacies.
