VIDEO: Dantonio breaks down Monday scrimmage
EAST LANSING - Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio met with members of the media during Tuesday's practice to discuss development in the Michigan State football program including some of the better individual performances during Monday's 124-play scrimmage.
Dantonio touched upon the performances of several players including his two quarterbacks Keith Nichol[/db ] and [db]Kirk Cousins. Dantonio said that he was impressed with both quarterbacks, who faced a number of difficult scenarios in third-down and goal line situations.
Nichol passed for 241 on 17-of-26 with three touchdowns. Cousins was 13-30 for 127 yards with 2 touchdowns.
Dion Sims, who also competed in the a Monday morning scrimmage for underclassmen in the morning before taking part in the afternoon scrimmage. Sims was one of 6 or 7 freshmen that pulled double duty for Michigan State.
Chris Norman also played in morning scrimmage. Dantonio said he was pleased with the way Norman ran to the ball and hit with force during both scrimmages.
On a lighter note, Dantonio let reporters know that he was booed off the stage while playing the video game Rock Band with his players in the brand new Michigan State football players lounge.
