Stills feels he has a lot to prove
In this era of recruiting with high school prospects having as much limelight as many of their collegiate counterparts too often it seems that players feel a lofty ranking from Rivals.com means the 'job' is done. However no coaches will have to share that concern when recruiting Carlsbad (Calif.) La Costa Canyon wide receiver Kenny Stills.
That's because the 6-foot-2, 175-pound pass-catcher still feels he has a lot to prove to the nation as far as becoming a truly elite prospect. Even with offers from the likes of California, Florida, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Penn State, USC, Tennessee and many other major national programs he says it took a while for some schools to notice his ability.
It wasn't until recently that coaches started to believe what they saw in Stills' tape.
"I got my offer (from Oklahoma) kind of based off of that combine that I went to and showed out at a while back," Stills said. "I think people questioned the speed thing. I mean they saw me always out running people, but I think they were wondering who was it against? Was it anyone fast?"
