Fourth offer arrives for New Orleans QB
New Orleans (La.) Edna Karr quarterback Munchie Legaux flew under the radar for much of his junior season but has emerged during the offseason to become a major college football recruit. Despite his status as a four-star prospect Legaux is still fighting to earn respect. The respect is coming though, and so are the offers.
"I got a Southern Miss offer," Legaux said on Tuesday night. "I found out about it this last Friday. I got it in the mail."
The USM campus is just a short drive down the road for Legaux in Hattiesburg, Miss. and he does have some connections to the Golden Eagle program.
"It's good," he said of the new offer. "Two players from our school go there. I played with one of them. Corey Williams, the linebacker. I don't know too much about the program."
The USM offer is the fourth added to Legaux's list, joining offers from Michigan, Tulane and Louisiana Tech. More offers could be on the way with as many coaches as have been passing through the Edna Karr halls this spring. The attention only motivates Legaux further.
"So far it's been good, a lot of coaches have been coming through," he said. "Texas Tech, Utah, Louisiana Tech, LSU, Mississippi State and Southern Miss have all come through. That just makes me want to go out there more and perform better and show them what I can do. I still gotta show people what I can do. A lot of people still don't really know who I am."
While Legaux had plans to attend the Nike Football Training Camp in Houston this coming weekend, it has been postponed due to swine flu concerns. That leaves at least two more camps that he will attend this summer: LSU and Baylor. Baylor in particular is a school that Legaux hopes will come with an offer too.
"I'm still waiting on Florida and Baylor," he said. "I'm waiting on those two and Tennessee."
