Semifinal showdown with LSU
The Mississippi State Bulldogs hope the third time is the charm.
The Bulldogs were swept during the regular season by LSU but will get another shot at the Tigers today in the semifinals of the Southeastern Conference Tournament at 12 p.m. CST from the St. Pete Times Forum.
MSU lost their first meeting to the Tigers 81-57 in Baton Rogue on Jan. 21 but took LSU into double overtime on Feb. 11 before falling 97-94.
The Bulldogs are now 21-12 on the year after their first two wins over Georgia and South Carolina at the SEC Tournament. State is averaging 75.4 points a game this season and shooting 44-percent from the floor. They are also draining 37.1-percent from 3-point range as well as 71.1-percent from the free throw line. The Bulldogs are averaging 7.5 blocks a contest and allow their opponents to score 69.4 points.
