Sunshine State back listens to CSU
The state of Florida's top ground gainer took a visit from Colorado State last week as Jeremy Wright and his teammate, Frankie Davis, met with members of the CSU coaching staff. Wright, the 5-foot-10, 185-pound running back from East Ridge High School in Claremont, Fla. claims six schools and has visits set up to four schools.
Wright said this season he rushed for 2,500 yards in leading the Sunshine State. He also scored 400 yards receiving and 30 total touchdowns for East Ridge, which went 10-2.
Currently, Wright has scholarship offers from Florida International, Louisville, Iowa State, Middle Tennessee State, Cincinnati, Troy and Colorado State. Kansas has also been in contact with the two-star prospect and could be close to an offer.
Wright was at Florida Atlantic this weekend and enjoyed the visit, saying he enjoyed meeting the running backs coach. He will be at Troy next weekend before visits to Louisville and Iowa State. He added he may also try for a mid-week visit to Colorado State with his teammate, Davis.
"He (CSU assistant coach Pat Meyer) basically told me and my defensive lineman that he thought CSU was a good fit for us and he wanted to set up a visit. We didn't get a date set up yet, but we are trying for a mid-week visit. I am pretty sure I will try to get up there. I actually played with Nico (CSU commit Nico Rainieri). I am pretty cool with him."
Wright said his recruitment is open right now and compared his running style to that of another Florida back - Emmitt Smith. He added his best quality may be his leadership skills. Others may argue it is his 4.49 speed in the 40-yard-dash, which goes along with a bench press of 350 or a squat of 425. He also holds a GPA of 2.5 and an 18 on his ACT.
Wright said he is looking for a running backs coach he connects with as well as an offense he feels like he would fit into. During his high school career he ran out of a split back offense, but believes he can fit nicely into a spread or I-back set.
