Bulldogs light it up from the outside
STARKVILLE, Miss., - It was just one of those nights where Mississippi State seemingly couldn't miss.
The Bulldogs tied the school record with 14 3-pointers and shot a season-best 66-percent from the floor en route to a 95-67 win over Western Kentucky in front of 3,101 faithful at Humphrey Coliseum.
"We shot the ball the best we've shot it all year that's for sure," said MSU head coach Rick Stansbury. "When you combine shooting the ball and defensively guarding people, we separated both ends. We separated offensively and we guarded them defensively."
MSU finished the hot night shooting hitting 14-of-22 (63.6-percent)from beyond the arc. The Bulldogs also shot a season high 91.7-percent from the charity stripe knocking down 11-of-12 attempts.
Ravern Johnson scorched the net with a career-high 26 points for State. The 6-foot-7 sophomore was 9-of-10 shooting on the evening including 6-of-7 on his 3-point shots.
"I just felt it," Johnson said. "I think our team came out with great energy tonight and I just started to feel comfortable."
Johnson's .857 shooting percentage from behind the arc set a single game school record.
