Video: Izzo still trying to decide on starting line-up
EAST LANSING - Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo does not have starting line-up set for Wednesday's exhibition game against Northern Michigan. But Izzo hopes that the upcoming exhibition game against his alma mater will help him move closer to settling on a starting five for the rapidly approaching 2008-2009 regular season.
Part of Izzo's dilemma in terms of naming a group of starters has to do with where Delvon Roe is at in the process of coming back from the surgery that ended his high school career Lakewood St. Edward one game into his senior season.
"We are a little bit beat up to be honest with you," Izzo said. "Delvon is coming but he is probably at 60 percent. Marquise (Gray) and G (Goran Suton) have been hurt. Durrell Summers after having a great two weeks has been hurt for a week and a half. We have actually cancelled practice yesterday, which is another un-American thing to do. We've kind of had to change up a little bit."
Kalin Lucas, Goran Suton, and Raymar Morgan will start for Michigan State against Northern Michigan.
"After that I am not positive who is going to start myself," said Izzo. "Hopefully, I will know a little bit more about that today."
Izzo said that he expects to have a playing group of up to 11 players this year. Izzo would eventually like to settle on a playing group of 9 players.
