Q&A: Ponder talks about getting the start

Shortly after Bobby Bowden announced that Christian Ponder would start this Saturday's game versus Western Carolina, the sophomore quarterback spoke to the media about getting his first college start, how he learned the news, what he must do to hold on to his job, getting over his shoulder injury and more. Here is a transcript of that interview:
Q: How does this feel?
Ponder: It feels good. I'm relieved. It's a little close to the game and it's finally here. It's a dream come true for me. I've been waiting forever to get this start and to play for Florida State. It finally happened and I'm excited.
Q: With your shoulder, were you afraid at all that not being able to work a couple of practices would hinder your ability to win this job?
Ponder: It did a little bit. I was a little afraid, because the other guys are really good and they were right behind me and pushing. Each day they got ahead of me on the three or four days that I missed. I was a little worried about it. Luckily I was able to come back and still do what I did. I think it really helped, what I did in the spring and summer, to make up ground. I was a little worried, but I was able to overcome it.
