Video: Leggett says he is ready for some carries
EAST LANSING - With Jehuu Caulcrick no longer an option, Javon Ringer will likely absorb most of Michigan State's short-yardage carries.
Red-shirt freshman Ashton Leggett has different plans. The 6-foot 220-pounder from Muskegon is hoping to close out training camp with a big enough bang that Michigan State running backs coach Dan Enos takes a look at him in the role of short-yardage back.
"I feel like now that Michigan State is using a two-back or maybe three-back system that I would come in great on short-yardage," said Leggett. "It is going to be some big shoes filling Jehuu's spot, but I feel that I am up to the task."
