Best practice so far is the first day in pads
Texas A&M hit the practice field for the first time in full pads Friday at the practice fields outside the Bright Football Complex. For the first time this August, hitting took center stage and some bar-jarring hits were sent all over the field.
It was also one of the first days where the Aggies really got after each other in situational drills during the team drills portion at the end of practice. Overall, it was one of the better days so far in August camp, and maybe the best day of practice yet.
"I thought we had one of our best practices. We had some mistakes out there and it's good to be out there like we did," said A&M head coach Mike Sherman. "We practiced a good bit of hitting and a lot of contact drills and guys getting up and off the ground. So they get fatigued a little bit and you want to figure out who is going to be there in the fourth quarter, like a guy jumping offsides or stuff like that. Overall I thought the guys responded well and did a good job. I'm most pleased with this practice probably than any other previous (practice)."
