Charlotte LB looking at NC State

Western North Carolina is home to some of the state's top talent in each recruiting class and West Charlotte High School is home to one of the state's top linebackers in 2008.

Brandon Grier has a solid build at 6-foot-2, 210-pounds and was as productive as nearly anyone in North Carolina last season. He recorded 170 tackles and an interception, and with another year of growth in the weight room he should only improve.

Right now a school not far from home is taking a hard look at Grier, and Grier is interested in them as well.

"I've talked to (a coach) from NC State," Grier said recently. "They're just looking forward to seeing me at their camps and they really want to have me there. I don't know what (the camp) is called, but I'll be there in June."

Not much else has happened over the past two months with regards to recruiting for Grier, but he's focused in on NC State and improving his own game.

"Right now I'm just working on getting better in my coverages and dropping back better," he said. "It's going really good."

In the past Grier had also heard from the likes of Clemson, Louisville and North Carolina A&T.
