Players hit the field in pads for week 2
Week two of practice only meant one thing; that the Oregon State football team was inching its way closer to having full contact practices. While tackling was still not allowed, the echoes of hits rang all across the Merrit Truax Center Monday afternoon, the fourth practice of the spring slate. The returning starters continued to make plays, and some of the now-departed seniors from 2007 were still on hand, but a few newcomers and backups were also beginning to make names for themselves. A few key observations I witnessed at Monday's practice:
**At the start of practice, the offense worked on some new plays and screen passes.
**The distribution of carries to the running backs was pretty equal, with Ryan McCants, Ahmed Mokhtar, Patrick Fuller, and Jeremy Francis. Showing his ability to perpetually chop his feet while being hit, I think McCants has the potential to break a lot of tackles this fall.
