Blackmon sets up first two official visits
Recruiting was on the back burner while Justin Blackmon and his Ardmore (Okla.) Plainview teammates made their playoff run. The Tigers won their first 12 games of the 2007 season before losing to Kingfisher, 30-7, in the semifinals.
"I was happy with my senior season," expressed Blackmon, who has seen his recruiting stock take off this fall. "We didn't make it all the way [to the championship] but we played our hardest and left it all out on the field."
Blackmon had more than 1,500 yards receiving on offense and he recorded more than seven interceptions at safety on defense.
With his senior season complete, Blackmon has been able to begin scheduling his official visits.
"I have one set up with Oklahoma State for next weekend and then I am going out to Missouri on the 19th of January," he explained. "I like the environment at OSU. It's an overall nice place. And they throw the ball a lot so I wouldn't mind getting on the field with them.
"I haven't been out to Missouri yet so I'm anxious to look around and see what they have out there. They have that spread offense so they throw the ball a lot and they have a great quarterback that will be there one more year."
Colorado, Iowa State and Tulsa are other colleges that Blackmon has kept in contact with.
"I am still talking to them, just trying to figure out a time when I can get out there," he said in regards to the Buffaloes. "I have been in contact with both their receivers coach (Eric Kiesau) and their defensive backs coach (Greg Brown). They are recruiting me as an athlete.
"I am just going to try to see as many colleges as I can before I make a final decision."
