Pitt crushes Buffalo 92-45
In 2006, then-No. 2 Pitt went to Buffalo and had a tough go against the Bulls, trailing by 7 at halftime before pulling out a 70-67 win.
On Friday night, No. 17 Pitt hosted Buffalo at the Petersen Events Center, and the results were markedly different, as the Panthers put together their biggest blowout of the young 07-08 season and beat the Bulls 92-45.
"I think we happened to catch Buffalo on an off-night," Jamie Dixon said after the game. "It was one of those days when things went well for us."
Buffalo head coach Reggie Witherspoon was a bit stronger in his words following the game.
"Pitt was outstanding tonight and their defense was great," Witherspoon said. "I just think that they were perfect."
Defense is often the key for Pitt, but on Friday night the Panthers recorded 16 steals (the second time this season they have reached that number) and forced 25 total turnovers, scoring 39 points off the takeaways.
