Silver lining for Golden Flashes
COLUMBUS -- Ohio State showed why it was ranked third-until Sunday when they moved to the No. 1 spot-in the national college football polls.
Capitalizing upon numerous opportunities of their own creation as well as on seemingly every one of an abundance of Kent State mistakes, the Buckeyes pummeled the visiting Golden Flashes, 48-3, on a picturesque autumn Saturday at Ohio Stadium.
While the Buckeyes were never threatened -- scoring early and often in this non-conference meeting of intra-state foes -- the Golden Flashes did come away from the sold-out Horseshoe with at least one ray of encouragement.
Kent State's cause for optimism didn't show up on the scoreboard, but the Golden Flashes just might be able to build upon the rushing attack they were able to mount against an Ohio State defense that entered the game rated second in the country in fewest yards allowed on the ground.
