Flowers in bloom
After rushing for 6,400 yards and 74 touchdowns in his career at Dyer County High School in Newbern, Tenn., Andre Flowers took his game to Kent State where the Golden Flashes' coaching staff hoped to redshirt him to create space between Flowers and sophomore running back Eugene Jarvis, a returning starter.
That plan lasted one game as head coach Doug Martin pulled off Flowers' red shirt and inserted him into the depth chart at running back and on special teams.
"I really like what Andre's looking like; he runs hard," Martin said. "He's physical. He's got really good speed and vision. (He's) getting better and better on the receiving end of things too. We definitely want to use him more and more. He enables us to keep Eugene fresh and healthy; that's the best thing he's doing for us right now."
