Nickson reacts to rough day
On the heels of one of the best performances of his career, Chris Nickson had perhaps his worst game against Alabama on Saturday. Nickson, hampered by a hamstring injury that he said occurred at the end of the first quarter or start of the second, completed just five of 18 passes and was intercepted once.
Nickson addressed the Nashville media on a variety of topics after the game. Here's an analysis of his day and what he had to say.
Hamstring hampers Nickson
Nickson acknowledged that the injury affected him, but didn't use it as a blanket excuse for a bad day.
"I think, late in the first half, it did affect me to some extent. But mostly, it was just a rhythm thing," Nickson said. "You try to establish some rhythm and get things going, and that just really didn't happen for us in the first half."
Specifically, Nickson said the injury caused him some mechanical problems in his throwing.
"I just couldn't really plant off my back foot like I wanted to. I was kind of coming around lazily on my throws. It was hard to get anything on it the way I would have liked," he said.
