Thursday Practice Report
Thursday the Crimson Tide football team continued their preparation for their September 1 season opener against Western Carolina with a full-pad afternoon practice session in the scorching Tuscaloosa heat. Here are a few notes from Thursday's practice:
Competition heating up
With a little over a week until kickoff, the battle for playing time and starting honors at each position has heated up. But it's the battle between the offense and the defense that has brought out the most intensity from the Tide players on the practice field this week.
The coaching staff has introduced more one-on-one drills into practice this week matching the tight ends against the defensive ends and the defensive tackles against interior offensive linemen.
Brandon Deaderick and Luther Davis worked with Wallace Gilberry and Bobby Greenwood in drills against the tight ends.
Meanwhile, defensive tackles Lorenzo Washington, Brian Motley (in a black non-contact jersey) and Josh Chapman took on the offensive guards.
