Texas QB Talks Tennessee Offer
Midway through the summer it looked like Tennessee might be bowing out of the chase to land a quarterback in the 2008 class. But then Texas prospect Robert Griffin popped into town for a national track event, taking the opportunity to meet with Tennessee coaches and make an unofficial visit out his trip. Now, the Vols are back in the quarterback recruiting business.
Griffin (6-foot-3, 195 pounds), from Copperas Cove, Tex. won the 110- and 400-meter hurdles at the AAU Junior Olympics earlier this month on Tennessee's campus. He set a national record in the 400 (49.56 seconds), and made enough of an impression on Tennessee's coaches that he became a serious target this week when he landed a firm offer from the Vols.
