Davis to UNC: What does it mean?
North Carolina basketball fans were able to breathe a collective sigh of relief this week, as Richmond (Va.) five-star standout Ed Davis made his verbal pledge to the Tar Heels to become the program's second Class of 2008 commitment. After a series of near-misses with high-major prospects this spring, the Tar Heels desperately needed to hit its mark with an elite frontcourt prospect in the upcoming senior class, and in Davis, UNC has added a solid frontcourt player that should fit well into Roy Williams' system with his athleticism and skill on both ends of the floor.
"Recruiting is like farming," Williams said earlier this week at his mid-summer press conference. "Every day you pull the weeds. You put the water in there. You try to keep the sun from being too much or too little. You don't have any idea until the crop comes in whether you did worth a darn or not."
