'Watch list wonder' reflects on publicity
MORGANTOWN--Justice has been served for Mountaineer defensive lineman Keilen Dykes.
Currently on three award watch lists--Lombardi, Nagursky, Bednarik--Dykes may be the most ballyhooed preseason WVU defensive player since consensus All-American linebacker Grant Wiley.
For a guy with all the summer laurels, Dykes, the strongest man on a strong Mountaineer football team, is keeping any bragging to himself.
Asked about all the June pub Tuesday at the Puskar Center, Dykes played it down, but said the bouquets coming his way were positives for his fellow defensive cohorts and for defensive line recruiting, specifically.
"It's all good because it's just getting the name out of West Virginia," said the 6-foot-4, 300-pound fourth-year starter. I agree, man. You just got to play the scheme of the defense. Maybe I'm called on now to know the scheme of the defense and know what the defense is doing. It's good for WVU and good for recruiting defensive lineman in the future."
