Compton raises stock
Last summer Will Compton spent several days at Notre Dame's summer camp where he caught the eye of Irish recruiting coordinator Rob Ianello. Since then, the 6-foot-2, 214-pound linebacker from Bonne Terre, Mo., has remained in contact with the Irish.
Compton returned to South Bend last weekend for the Irish Elite Senior Camp. He again heard encouraging words from Ianello.
"I text back and forth with coach Ianello," Compton said. "I've talked to him quite a bit and last week after camp he said that my stock rose."
The camp visit was Compton's third trip to Notre Dame - he made an unofficial visit to South Bend last fall when the Irish hosted North Carolina - but this time around he left feeling pretty good about a potential offer.
"I ran my 40's well and even though they couldn't time me, the coaches were watching," he said.
