Two-sport star gets Irish offer

IrishIllustrated.com Back in January, Garrett Goebel picked up the first of what soon would become double-digit scholarship offers. Illinois, Vanderbilt and Ohio State were the first, but many more would follow.
"It all happened so quickly," said Goebel, a 6-foot-5, 264-pound defensive lineman from Lombard, Ill. "I didn't start playing until my freshman year when I was just 6-foot-3, 190-pounds. The offers started coming in January."
It wasn't until his sophomore season when Goebel suited up on both offense and defense for Montini Catholic that he realized he might have a future in football.
