Irish like potential in young quarterbacks
Charlie Weis has seen enough to start separating his quarterbacks.
The players that will work alongside Jimmy Clausen, Demetrius Jones, Evan Sharpley or Zach Frazer this fall aren't so sure. They've watched all four make strides through Saturday's Blue-Gold Game, but whether or not the next Brady Quinn walks in their midst remains up for debate.
"With every rep I saw guys growing more and more comfortable," said linebacker Maurice Crum. "I think as they continue to take those reps, the leader will emerge."
The quarterback quartet passed for just 77 yards in the spring scrimmage, completing 11-of-24 passes with one touchdown and two interceptions. Even the one scoring pass, a 15-yard connection between Jones and Robby Parris, was the result of the receiver adjusting to an under thrown ball. Jones' hand was hit as he released the pass.
