Is State in the hunt for five-star Davis?
Beginning next season, Michigan State will have the talent to start adding banners to Tom Izzo's already impressive collection in the rafters of the Breslin Center.
The addition of a second national championship of the Izzo era and the third in school history is a realistic goal of the Spartans in the coming years. But for that realistic goal to become an expectation, Michigan State coaches would like to add a blue-chip power forward in the 2008 recruiting class. Such an addition would make the Spartans one of the early favorites to win a title in their own backyard, as Detroit is the home to the Final Four for the 2008-2009.
Earlier this week, Michigan State jumped into the Top 7 of Ed Davis, an extremely athletic 6-9 power forward with strong face-up skills. Ranked the No. 4 power forward and the No. 8 overall player in the Class of 2008 by Rivals.com, Davis fits the blueprint four the type of skilled junior four that Michigan State hopes to sign.
