Notebook: Tigers ready to put on the pads
Auburn's players have gotten their feet wet the first two days of spring drills but they can expect things to get a lot tougher starting Thursday when they don full pads for the first time.
The NCAA requires the first two practices to be in shorts and helmets. Auburn used those two days mostly for installation along with some 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 drills mixed in.
"We're installing tomorrow and maybe Friday," said Auburn offensive coordinator Al Borges. "We're going to get about three-quarters of it done in four days and pick up the rest of it next week. We'll start working more situational stuff as we go.
"For the first two days with the install, the kids did a pretty good job."
Borges is definitely ready to see the pads popping Thursday morning.
"It's non-pads, not real football, but tomorrow will tell us a little more about how we're going to compete in a real football environment," said Borges.
