The LSU football program picked up its first verbal commitment for the 2008 recruiting year Saturday afternoon from one of the top prospects in Louisiana.

"They offered me and I committed," Parkview Baptist offensive lineman Clay Spencer said. "

Spencer has been flying a bit under the recruiting radar very early in the recruiting process.

"I think he is a pretty good one. He started for us last year as a junior and came on strong there at the end," Parkview Baptist coach Kenny Guillot said.

"Really we sent some DVD's out and we haven't gotten a whole lot of feedback on them because we just sent them out."
