THE STARTER: Graham Harrell

THE OUTLOOK: Heading into the 2006 football campaign, Texas Tech's quarterback situation was a tantalizing question mark. The new starter would either be a true sophomore with extremely limited game experience, or a redshirt freshman with none. Both players, however, possessed a wealth of talent, and because of that ability, were heavily recruited coming out of high school.

With the 2006 season in the books, the 2007 quarterback picture is much clearer although still fraught with just enough uncertainty to make it an interesting position to watch this spring.

To recap, Graham Harrell won a heated quarterback competition with Chris Todd and started every game in Tech's 8-5 season. Like the team in general, Harrell's year had more peaks and valleys than a Swiss canton. He led the Red Raiders to scintillating comeback victories over Texas A&M and Minnesota in the Insight Bowl, but also captained his team into bar-ditches against against Colorado, Missouri and TCU.
