Will Jones follow the path of Wright, Collins?
Julian Wright shocked the recruiting world when he gave a commitment to Bill Self and the Kansas Jayhawks. A year later, Sherron Collins gave the nod to KU shortly after his official visit. Verdell Jones, the 6-foot-4, 160-pound point guard from Central High School in Champaign, Ill., recently took an unofficial visit to Kansas, and was more than impressed with what he saw. Will the No. 77 ranked player in the class of 2008 follow in the footsteps of Wright and Collins by becoming the next great high school prospect from the state of Illinois to commit to the Jayhawks?
As it stands right now, Jones is receiving interest from the likes of DePaul, Florida, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisville, Tennessee, UCLA and Southern Illinois. According to the talented point guard, five schools in particular currently stand atop his list: Arizona, Florida, Illinois, Kansas and Tennessee.
