McCoy leads class of players with potential

Panther-lair.com On Wednesday, Dave Wannstedt signed his second full recruiting class since taking over as Pitt's head coach. While the class of 2006 had a goal of reestablishing Pitt's presence in western Pa. as well as building up the overall talent, Wannstedt and his staff used the 2007 class to secure a variety of players ranging from the known to the unknown.
Chief among Wannstedt's newest recruits has to be running back LeSean McCoy. After tallying 6,640 yards in high school despite a season-ending injury as a senior, McCoy has spent the last year at Milford Prep in New Berlin, NY. Now that's McCoy will be qualified, Wannstedt, a self-proclaimed run-oriented coach, has a plan for his future running back.
"Get him here as fast as we can and get him involved," Wannstedt said Wednesday.
Getting McCoy to commit to Pitt is somewhat of a coup for Wannstedt and the Panthers. As a senior at Harrisburg's Bishop McDevitt, McCoy was the nation's No. 7 running back and chose Miami over offers from Florida, Southern Cal, Penn State, and Virginia Tech, among others.
