Tennessee tackle brings intensity to State
Soon after Mark Dantonio was named the head coach at Michigan State on Nov. 27 he wasted little time in getting Tennessee offensive lineman Jared McGaha on campus for an official visit. McGaha was one of four athletes to take an official visit to Michigan State the first weekend after Dantonio was hired.
On Dec. 11 McGaha became the third member of that four-man group to pull the trigger for the Spartans as he joined fellow commits David Duran and Garrett Celek. The other member of the group, Kentucky o-lineman Chase Dumphord, currently lists Michigan State among his top five.
Duran and Celek were Cincinnati commitments whom Dantonio wanted to retain for his new assignment at Michigan State. McGaha and Dumphord are quality linemen that Dantonio and his staff loved, but couldn't get them overly excited about looking at Cincinnati. But when Dantonio got the MSU job, McGaha and Dumphord were eager to sign up for a visit.
