McCoy looking around
New Berlin (N.Y.) Milford Academy running back LeSean McCoy was committed to Miami at one point, but now the four-star prep star is wide open in his recruiting. What schools have been in contact with the 6-foot-0, 205-pounder?
"He's heard from Penn State and Pitt and he told me he talked to Pete Carroll recently as well," said Milford Academy head coach Bill Chaplick. "I know he's been to Penn State a few times and Pitt is high on his list too, but I wouldn't count out Miami just yet either."
McCoy de-committed from the 'Canes due to the rumors surrounding the dismissal of Larry Coker. Could a new coach lure McCoy back?
"It could happen, it depends on who they get," said Chaplick. "I don't want to speak for LeSean too much. He really liked coach Coker and that's who he wanted to play for. Now he'll have to wait and see."
Schools such as Virginia Tech and Tennessee who were heavily involved with McCoy as a senior at Harrisburg (Pa.) Bishop McDevitt are no longer involved.
"I think it will come down to Penn State or Pitt," he said. "Unless another school comes in or Miami can win him back."
McCoy got stronger as his prep season wore on, rushing for 255 yards and three scores recently in his best performance of the season.
"He started off a little slow but he worked hard and I would imagine he looks like the old LeSean now," said Chaplick. "His academics are much better and that's the main focus now."
