Belle Glades, Fla., Central wide receiver Deonte Thompson is only one of five receivers nationally who hold a scholarship from USC this year.

Bracing for the possibility of Dwayne Jarrett's early departure to the NFL and Steve Smith's graduation, Thompson has become the focal point of USC's recruiting efforts in Florida.

Until last week, Thompson's focus was on his broken foot. The five-star receiver injured his foot over the summer, and without knowing the extent of his injury, played in his first two games of the season.
